Dubai has come into sight as a global and a business hub mainly as an Islamic city, with
religion touching all aspects of everyday life in the country. Everyday activities, festivals,
cuisine, dresses, weddings, and other customs are stated very much by religion. Despite waves of
modernity touching the shores of Dubai, the emirate remains close to its cultural heritage.
Dubai has become a flourishing city and tourist destination with more than 10 million visitors a
year. Dubai is known for world-class dining, supreme shopping and recreational activities for
every style and taste. Tourism in Dubai is an important part of the city government's strategy
to maintain the flow of foreign cash into the emirate. Dubai's attraction for tourists is based
primarily on shopping, but also on its ownership of other ancient and modern attractions.
Dubai is the most heavily populated emirate of the seven emirates of United Arab Emirates .It is
distinct from other members of the UAE in that revenues from petroleum and natural gas account
for only 6% of its gross domestic product. A majority of the emirate's revenues are from
tourism. A trip to Dubai transports you on a journey through time. It is also believed that the
natural sheltered harbor afforded by the Dubai Creek was a busy port of call on the ancient
trade route between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley.
But Dubai’s innovative merchants bounced back, developing a thriving trade in gold and other
commodities. Much of this history is carefully preserved in myriad forts, mosques, palaces and
other historic monuments, which are on the journey of many organized tours.
Since Dubai continues to grow and entertain its tourists, this large city has set its sights on
treating in the cultural ground from that of which it developed. A development that is set to
bring different type of experience that will put together the vast array of nationalities and
cultures that visit and live in this most vibrant Emirate.
Culture Village has been launched. In Culture Village, a project designed by Dubai Properties,
Dubai surpasses its attributes by showing a premier art arena for everyone in the world to
experience. Dubai has excelled its name at the top travelers’ destinations and a place of
foreign residence for those that love the land.
Dubai has earned the reputation of "shopping capital of the Middle East." The city draws large
numbers of shopping tourists from countries within the region and from as far as Eastern Europe,
Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. Dubai is also known for its souk districts. Souk is the
Arabic word for market or place where any kind of goods are brought or exchanged. Traditionally,
ships from the Far East, China, Sri Lanka, and India would discharge their cargos and the goods
would be bargained over in the souks next to the docks. Dubai's most atmospheric shopping is to
be found in the souks and these souk are located on either side of the creek. One of the best
entertaining shopping mall is Mall Of Emirates. It has many branded clothing outlets and food
courts that is main attraction for the tourists.
